hey guys i was thinking of adding a color scheme thing to my band using purple white and black, but with the white stripes and everything would that be a bad idea.

The White Stripes were a band who's color scheme was just one tiny detail. Their whole philosophy is based around trifectas, as this inspired Jack White. The least elements you can use, the more creative you have to be with them, he figured.

If you don't don't do it for deeper reasons, you might come across as posers. However, it will make your band somewhat more recognizable, which has its own merits. It all falls or stands with how well your band plays. The White Stripes wouldn't be noticed if they were pasty kids playing mediocre songs - as long as you are above that, you should be fine.
Please let me keep this memory, just this one ..
