Now Is The Summer Of Our Discotheque

Strangers stood on shorelines
weathering breezes as they waved us on
towards new adventures and miracles.
They breathed deep the briny air
and felt the gentle rush of wind
comb between each strand of hair.
A beach-sited summer bonfire
sent fire-angels spinning upward
before they disappeared in the warm night.

We were all young and limitless,
showing off our own bravado
whilst secretly jealous of everyone else's.
But we were happy in our own little ways;
one watching marshmallows melt and blacken;
one singing Highway to Hell into a conch;
one dreaming up an avant-garde dream,
numbering the days of this paradise
for the next one to come along and sweep us away.

Now is the summer of our discontent;
Now is the solution to our predicament.

Star devoid sky and arcade sounds
On a near empty beach
Crowded days on gritted sands
Crying "jellyfish" in the breeze
As the small, red disc drifts past
Fake tanned 'beauties' showcasing,
to every man with his imaginary muscles
Cameras out to the blue skies and muddy waters
A suitor, first in line, to ask
"Have you got a man?"
Sorry, I've got this one.
Head out on the slow train,
for a break at the end of the pier
Spend the last of the dying light,
walking carefree to a late feast
Before the last night of freedom

Can we stay, just one more day?

he didn't have a sonnet for her
or anything in verse
she was worried her track record was
evidence of a curse

the meeting place was set
and in slow motion they would meet
and he would greet her with his arms
wide open in elation
the sun on the horizon would kiss the
scene in a warm glow
but he had another text that told him no

he didn't have an iron handy so
he turned up a little creased
she was so nervous she'd not
even brushed her teeth

the meeting place was set
and in slow motion they would meet
and he would greet her with his arms
wide open in elation
the sun on the horizon would kiss the
scene in a warm glow
but she had another text that told her no

he was almost possesed to just
chuck it all in
she'd quit the week before but now
needed her nicotine

they'd taken in the views
and noted down the moans
but given the tricycle of feeling, place and weather
decided it would be better to just
throw away their phones

the meeting place was set
and in slow motion they would meet
and he would greet her with his arms
wide open in elation
the sun on the horizon would kiss the
scene in a warm glow
then fade out slowly

O, the melting days

Why is this the clock's ticking
In front of me, the hours melting in clearest reverie
Why is it that with each passing day, friends and I
Rejoice together, to come clean with if or troubled mind?
To join in song, life and deadly endeavours still?

We trade what
Belongings, as in money or
Who's belonging, can objects be bound?
Only if rejoiced and still?
Cares if a brush winds in another’s pocket
Thinking it was mine, or his?

Then
It all comes down to a blur
When in a month or two
You realise
It was never yours

But the songs you learned
In a time, once upon a herd
You smiled, and the thoughts
Of sharing is
Caring

Then
It all came down to a blur
When in a month or two
We realised
It was never yours

Chorus
I’ve been away,
this summer.
But I’m thinking of you,
this summer.
Wouldn’t it be cool,
this summer,
If I could be with you,
this summer.

I’m up north on the 9 to 5,
Working for what I think I need.
But what I want is down south,
Sippin’ that shine without me.
But when I get home,
this summer,
We’re gonna throw back,
this summer.

Chorus

I’m gonna try my best to make up time,
That I lost ‘cuz I’m a fool.
I couldn’t see it then, what I see now.
But I’ve learned, from my mistakes.
Should’ve said something before,
This summer.
Gonna give love a shot,
This summer.

Chorus

Bridge

Oh- I been away far too long, but that’s about to change…

Chorus

When I get home,
this summer,
I’m gonna make you mine.

The difference in views between the two threads in huge
It didn't take long to realise
The safest place was not her arms, but her eyes
Where she can't see you
For her gaze, it blisters;
Grey skin to cinders

Gotta bump one or the other occasionally

I did a little switcheroo on the other thread since I had forgotten to make it multivote. All votes are still in tact unless you want to update given the poll switching.
