Hi all!

I have a carved top body with 4A flamed maple top, black binding.

I'm going to stain and back sand it, then stain again, etc.

When I go to lacquer the body, do I need to tape the binding if I use a non-acetone Lacquer? As I understand, using a lacquer with an acetone thinner can damage the binding as its made of acetate.

Also, does anyone have a preference regarding lacquers? Water based or not?

Thanks, Friends!
There are You tube video's about guitar body sanding and finishing. Plenty of information there. Binding is taped before staining in some processes. Good luck.
