The first few seconds of this song is what im talking about. Im gonna record a cover version and i wanna make it as accurate as possible.

How should i make the guitars and the drums sound like that? Eq? another effect?

Also, what cymbal do you guys think that is? Seems like a crash but it could be an open high-hat.

It's just eq-ing out the top and bottom, some people call it a telephone filter as it sounds kinda like a telephone.

I usually just low-pass everything to get that kind of effect. But chemicalfire is right, taking out the top and bottom is probably best - you can use a band-pass filter for that.

And, that sounds to me like a high-hat, if you mean when the filter is turned off.
