Hey all,

Been playing in bands for around a decade and most were of the heavy variety.

Live we always fudge a sound that sort of sounds good, but always blurry.

When you listen to that heavy Fear Factory, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage track, even live just sound immense, heavy but also clear.

Is there a way we could use ableton or something downloaded and software based to creat this sound on a laptop for even our studio tracks, as even with post we can't seem to create an acceptable sound.

Do we just need extra hardware? Please advise, we really want to achieve that clear crisp but brutally heavy sound.

Thanks.

Have a look at some LePou plugins, cut the bass under 100-200Hz, and lower the gain.

I mean, al lot. By one third at least.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Playing through digital overdrive is is like ****ing a sex doll: Sure you'll get off, and it might even look the same from a distance, but it's just not even close to the same.
