Back in the late 80s guitar magazines, especially American ones, used "axe" all the time. Yet here, no one does. I never really liked the word anyway. Is it super-uncool now? Too many hair-metal associations?
#2
What I wanna know is if people still use the term "wang bar".

Anybody who bought Joe Satriani's Guitar books know what I'm talking about.
#4
I've moved on to calling them body spray.

Lemme play you this thing I wrote on my body spray.
#6
Id rather hear people call them axes than refer each guitar by name

EDIT: Me "alright mate wuu2"
Mate "just playing around with Sarah"

It depends on the shape. A Warlock, Gene Simmons Axe-bass or other more extreme shaped guitars can be called axes IMO. But strats, flying V's, explorers etc. cannot.

Your balls. You lost the right to them. Hand them over.

I don't think i have ever called my guitar an axe. I think it's kind of lame to call it that.

How do you say "I'm okay" to an answering machine?

I never really thought it made any sense to call a guitar an axe so I never have

Usually I use the term "Electronic Stringed Device"
You have to be specific because there are other things, such as the "Acoustic Stringed Device", the "Steel Stringed Device", the "Resonating Stringed Device", the "Ukulelelelelele Stringed Device", "Deep Stringed Device", "Pretty Tall Stringed Device", "Bow Moving Stringed Device", "Bow Moving Large Stringed Device", among others.

Don't give me this axe crap
I have nothing important to say
#27
A lot of people still call them axes. I often see comments like "nice axe dude" on YouTube covers.
#28
yeah bro! Bros call axes axes bro... right after they use axe body spray

I don't, but I'm indifferent to the concept. This coming from a guy who does see the point in naming a guitar.

I do not.

I usually call things by their proper names. For example, I call spaghetti spaghetti.

Yeah, 40-year old men undergoing midlife crisis who buy themselves a razorback then post pictures on facebook with the caption "check out my new axe! \m/" and desperately wait for comments of approval from their peers but instead the only feedback they get is their teenage kids posting statuses about how lame their parents are.

That's incredibly judgemental.

Seriously. Don't tell someone to bring a guitar to a jam session. It has to be an axe, for some stupid reason.
#38
Axe is a bloody stupid name, the only reasonable thing to call a guitar is an "electric wynde" or a "screaming stick"

That said without the axe
