Hey guys,
I'm due to record a new song in a few hours, so I decided to restring my guitar. All was going well until the tuning peg lifted off of it's casing, and now won't go back on. A VERY small spring came out as well, and I have no idea how or where to put it. (I'm talking literally a few millimetres in length) It's a Grover machine head, and i can't seem to find a picture of it.

Instead of the solid top where the string goes through mine had a detachable section that popped off.
Please, any ideas how I can fix this? Been looking forward to recording for weeks!

The guitar is a Gibson SG Goddess, and I've just found out the tuners are Grover Auto Trim's

I see what you have now. I don't have an answer though.

Here is a similar product from Planet Waves that I just found (skip to 6:00):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPdL74kfFhg

It is basically a peg inside of a peg and it cuts your string for you after the string is locked in.

Very cool. Does Grover call it Rotomatic?

No answers in here but you mentioned you had an SG

Still can't find an answer/help.

Maybe try contacting Grover directly:

That's unfortunate, I'm sorry.

Time to bust out the backup. This is why you always always keep a backup. Anything can happen at any time.

Grover doesn't make an autotrim tuner. I assume you mean a locking rotomatic. Gotoh has made a few iterations of those and as near as I can tell that's what came standard on the Goddess.

Might look like this:

Or one of the later versions

I had one of those do a similar thing, the outer post pulled right off and a ball bearing popped out. If that's what happened on yours I think you're screwed. I never did get mine back together. The good news is that you can still use it like a regular tuning peg but without the locking mechanism until you can get a replacement tuner or set.
