So I have been having trouble with my Fender Princeton 650's distortion channel. It's keeps lowering the distortion level by itself. I'll be playing on distortion and for no reason the distortion is made cleaner and quieter.

Do you guys think this is a cable or an amp problem? What is the problem if it is the amp?

Sounds like an amp problem.
A cable either passes all the signal or none of it.

Isn't that only true for digital cable?

Though I agree, definitely an amp problem.
