What do you think about my strat's pickguard? I've never seen a similar color. The usual "mint" hue is missing from mine, and it's not that old. It's an early 2009 MIM strat. Do you think it's because of my sweaty hands? They are not completely wet, but sometimes when I'm on stage, they tend to sweat a bit. It's strange that the 'Fender' decal's shadow is still there, it's the only white part of the PG, even though I immediately removed it after I bought it.

Could you get us a better picture in natural lighting. I have had quite a few guitars with mint. But i think for some came in different combination. Special releases, etc. The sticker mark is odd if you removed it when new. Mine is a 1995, and in the last few years its aged a bit.

Of course, I'll post a picture with natural lightning tomorrow

:EDIT: I think I have one, it has much better quality than the first one I posted. Check it out:

Maybe there is a super thin, imperceptible layer of glue still in that circle, and it's protecting it against whatever is causing the discoloration (UV light?). You could try cleaning it.

When did you buy it? It looks like it sat in the window of a music shop/store for a long time.

I bought it the same year it was made and when I did, the pickguard was perfectly white. I'm not bothered at all by the coloration, I'm really diggin' the yellowish hue instead of a minty color . I will try cleaning the white area to let it breathe and age. Have any of you seen something similar before?

wow, that is quite unusual. It deff looks like it has been sun bleached/discolored.

How long did the pickguard have the sticker on it?

I took it off right away. It was there for a couple of days, maybe a week as maximum.

The only thing I can think of is that the sticker glue reacted with the pickguard and "protected" it against aging in that spot. I don't think there is anything you can do to correct it, short of replacing the p/g with another one (vintage or not).

Fender pickguards are cheap and you have a good amount of color choices.
