Look for software specific to your blu-ray drive, thats the only way I was able to get it for "free".

The Blu-Ray encryption keys cost $$$ therefore the software vendors will charge $$$

Well that's the key piece of information that you need.

Because then you can just google "_________ software".

Blu-Ray players don't have software, they have firmware. If you don't have the capable hardware, you're SOL. Just look up the drivers for your model of reader. Also make sure your video card or chipset driver can handle it.

Well, I have a LITE-ON Blu-Ray drive in my computer. I installed the drivers and it reads discs fine, but it requires the CyberLink Blu-ray Disc Suite software to be able to play any movies (it may have come on a disc with the drive, not sure). You need to know who made your Blu-Ray drive. Past that I can't help you.
