That's Seamus Heaney.

A monumental loss to Ireland and the English language. RIP

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.

RIP all the same, but bring on the onslaught of pseudo intellectuals that haven't looked at one of his poems since the Junior Cert.

Pseudo intellectuals? In The Pit?
Surely you are mistaken...

Why would you spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn about a language you already speak? It was over before it even started dude

Here passes a legend.

Good god, it's actually quite shocked me. I grew up reading a fair bit of Heaney's poetry, and have studied it several times in higher and further education, as well as reading it quite often merely for pleasure. The man truly was a master of the art; a light that broke through a mist of splodge poets and fluff, and those determined to undermine him due to this Irish roots.

Rest in peace you fantastic man.

I studied that poem you referenced in the OP in school
he was good, may he RIP

I still didn't get a good grade in English though
But boys will be boys and girls have those eyes
that'll cut you to ribbons, sometimes
and all you can do is just wait by the moon
and bleed if it's what she says you ought to do

BBC already did it. Sad loss to us all
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.
Let me in for a minute, you're not my life but I want you in it

O Dayya, te echaré de menos, siempre

RIP
Heaney was a sacrificial soul. I was very inspired by him while I was in uni and wrote a few papers on his work. I am sure he is peaceful now.
