I'm building a korina neck with macassar ebony fretboard and a hot rod truss rod.
I want to make the fretboard rest a little longer than the back of the neck so I shortened the neck a little (to the 22th fret).

The problem is that if I put the adjusting nut like in the second picture, it gets over the nut on the other side and I'm afraid the channel will be seen when I make the transition.
Is it ok to install the truss rod like in the following pictures, so that the adjusting nut sits a little beyond the heel?
