Movie is gonna be made, actors are lined up. People are going to hype this shit up just like they did with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. That got me thinking...

...is sex gonna get kinkier for the "man on the street"?

...are people going to go "wilder"?

Pls respond.

Replace sex with life and replace kinkier with worse. The answer is yes.

For a shitty piece of literature, it at least encourages women to directly explore or discuss sexuality. I still think it's pretty repressed but it might be a start?

Sex gets kinkier when people are able to be more sexually liberated don't get me wrong, normal sex is fine, but when you're able to be more comfortable with the person you're doing it with and more comfortable with what you're doing in the first place, you figure out what you like and you go for it. Kinky sex is great sex, as long as it's not kinky in a way that you're not into.

So, what is this book about? Is it a straight-up porno, or is there a story or something?

Girl gets into a dominant-submissive relationship with super hot wealthy guy and feels ensue (as well as graphic elaborations)

Basically, your average romance novel, but with a slight BDSM flair

I read about 40 pages of the first book. As soon as the sex started I cringed so hard my balls went in.

No, because it's not particularly kinky to begin with. Never read it, but I know people who have (or at least parts of it). It's basically a romance novel with very light bondage and male-dom. Maybe a chick here or there will ask to be choked and there'll be some accidental hospitalizations.

Hopefully the ones into the book will have serious sex accidents and remove their ability to procreate.

Yeah. It doesn't seem like a very good representation of BDSM culture in the first place. It's more like Twilight but with bondage instead of vampires as its niche: "Find creepy hot dude to overwhelm you with attention so you don't have to think about sex on your own."

No, the only people who read it are single overweight moms in their 40/50's who desperately need to get laid.

Women complain about men watching porn, but when there is kinkier shit in a book, it's now socially acceptable?

Women must complain about porn because they are totally uninterested in fucking, not because hardcore porn has unrealistic expectations for both sexes, right??

50 Shades is just as unrealistic.

It will. Haven't you read the studies? It's been proven like 50 times that video games cause violence.

Well, most of the more "well-adjusted to reality" girls I know accept the fact that dudes watch porn. Some have even gone so far as to admit that they "occasionally" indulge.

But most of the non-idiotic girls who are grounded don't really judge dudes for watching porn. The only girls who would hate it to the point of judging people for it are immature, self-righteous and unrealistic.

EDIT: i'd imagine some girls envision it as "classless" or whatever. "Like, boys are so disgusting. All they, like, think about is, like, sex, and when they're not having it, they're jerking off to other people, like, having sex. Ewwwww."

I don't think guys would okay with their girl getting off on some pornstar dude online. That's probs another reason why women complain, that compounded with the unrealistic expectations stuff.

Oh, that's what I was trying to say. My first point was a sarcastic note trying to point out that lots (if not most) girls don't have a problem with porn in general, but I know plenty that think the porn that is out there now is heavily biased towards certain body types and sexual acts. I watch a lot of porn but I have spent years tailoring sources at this point because most porn is really boring and uncreative for how much of it is available. Also people who learn how to have sex through mainstream porn usually have no idea what they're doing or don't expect to give much foreplay to the girl.

No it doesn't, it clearly and avowedly encourages women to consider themselves as objects of sexual gratification for men.

Nope, but 50 Sheds of Grey is.

'I'm your slave,' she said breathlessly, 'Make me feel completely helpless and worthless.' So I locked her in the shed and went to the pub.

Considering it at all could at least lead to a less passive role.

I am not into the book, nor do I think it's an appropriate framework at all for female sexuality (as stated in other posts in this thread), but I have heard women fraternize about their sexual fantasies in public a little more now that the book has come out.

I'm so glad I don't keep up with pop culture much any more. I have no idea what this is or why it's going to influence life in any fashion.

/edit. Wait so it's basically going to make more girls open about their sluttyness? How is that something new?

I honestly don't know many guys who want to try any kinkier sex than what they've been doing.

I remember being younger and having to take months to convince my boyfriend to let me tie his hands behind his back. Then again, this guy was also afraid of eating pussy so whatever

Is that what your boyfriend told you?

Kinky is relative, the book in question barely scratches the surface of human sexuality.
