got a few q's.

1. how long have you been playing guitar?
2. How many songs can you play all the way trough?
3. what do you expect an average guitarist to know (skills, techniques etc.)
#2
1. 5 years
2. many
3. I know tabs and stuff about notes (4/4 timing, I have used Tuxguitar a couple of times so that's where I learned). Apart from that, I know a few chords.

1) 4 and a half years
2) 35 and 1/3 (I've forgotten many)
3) Power chords, beginning finger picking

1) Six years
2) Virtually hundreds, because I can play the C, G, F, D, A, E and B chords. In all actuality, maybe like five I don't know. I don't like playing songs through :/
3) How to make their bed, tie their shoes, take a shower, cook food, etc. The basics.
#7
1) 7 years
2) a couple hundred
3) there is no average, I know professionals who suck and I know people who've never done a gig who are really good.
#8
1. Maybe 5 years seriously
2. Lots, but honestly my memory is crap so anything I'm not playing a lot currently I always have to go back and listen or look the tabs up again as a reminder.
3. They should know some very basic music theory at least, how to find notes on the fretboard, how to read guitar tab (at least), and the basic functionality of a guitar and amplifier (the knobs)

As a comment on question 3, I've known an excellent guitarist who didn't know how anything with the guitar and amp worked except the master volume on both and where the power button was on his amp. Also I've met really great guitarists who don't know what notes they're playing, or even what chords they're playing - basic open chords...

1. how long have you been playing guitar?: 10 Years.

2. How many songs can you play all the way trough?: All parts including solos? Maybe 25. Various parts of different songs? Way too many to count.

3. what do you expect an average guitarist to know (skills, techniques etc.): Basic scales, alternate/economy picking, proper muting.

1. 5 years now.
2. Quite a few.
3. How to play their instrument and reading sheet music. Outside of technicalness stuffs, chord construction and basic harmony if they want to write their own music. Improv is nice too, but it isn't 100% necessary.

1. Ten years.

2. Too many to count. We talking lead or chords and singing? Either way, plenty.

3. Know plenty of chords, how to move around them, how to jam with scales, know how to change key in a song. Be versatile to a degree. Have rhythm.
