Saw this awesome amp at one of the local pawn shops a last week and knew I HAD TO HAVE IT.
I see maybe 2 of these on Craigslist, pawnshops or other resources for this kind of stuff a year locally.
Its awesome...

This thing kicks ass:
(For $180 it better)

Bahhaa..just kidding.

Here is the real NAD :

Peavey Vypyr 30

I used to have a Vox Valvetronix 30, but had to sell it when I moved (needed the money, and I still miss it).
While The Valvetronix had better cleans (IMO) the Vypyr blows the Valvetronix away when it comes to dirt, by a LONG LONG WAY.
I still have my AC30 so If I need cleans, I still have them.
I would sooner sell my mother into slavery before I sell my AC30.
The DZL model itself is dirty enough to kill your neighbors deaf dog.
I do prefer the Plxi model for dirt ATM though
The Twn model is my current favorite for cleans though.
I only just got it today so I still have loads of experimenting to do.

I haven't had a chance to record anything with it yet, but will have some audio up tomorrow night (Technically that will actually be tonight since its 5am right now.).

And yeah, I paid $180 for it.
But it is in flawless condition.
Bastards didn't even want to haggle.
Finding one of these used around here is rare. Probably be easier to find a Dumble.
They did throw in a nice cable and a cheap guitar strap though
I did try to talk them out of the Sanpera II they had, but that was a no go
I blame that fucking Pawn Stars TV show.

This would have been up sooner and with audio but I had to fix my bedroom ceiling:

Congrats!

Keep scheming on that Sanpera II, since it will still work when you decide to get the Tube 60...

The Tube 60 is on my list, but its likely to be quite a wait till I can get one.
Same with he Sanpera.

I only played it for about an hour or so, but that's not even scratching the surface.
That thing has so many damn possibilities.
I probably won't be leaving my bedroom for a week or more

Speaking of 12", are you glad you got the 12" speaker now?

I think you need a Vypry30+ to run the Sanpera and you also get the rack effects (vs the Vypyr 15) as well so I'm glad you went for the 30.

Have you tried it with headphones yet?

Congrats dude

nice piece of kit. now take those batwings off

Loved the "$180 Samick". I cracked up when I saw that. Thankful to see there was a real NAD beyond that. Congrats!

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Playing with the headphones right now.
And it sounds way better than the Vypyr 15 did
And whoever had this amp before me seems to have had the delay on for every damn bank/channel/etc.
This is one amp I'm gonna need to actually read the manual for.
They had a Sanpera II at the pawn shop. But they want $289 for it.
And those bastards don't haggle like they used to.

And that Samick amp was included with the Samik bass when when I bought it a few years ago for $100.

Yeah - reading the manual to get the down and dirty on how to affect the effects is def a plus.

If you are on 'Green' and 'Bypass' and save it that way by holding in the desired Bank button should give you just the amp and no effects and save it that way.

Sweeeeet. My Vypyr 15 is pretty kickass, for what it is.

The fact that people are charging $250 for a fucking footswitch is goddamn outrageous to me.

That's good to know. Thanks.
The effect are cool, but there's a lot of time where I don't want any effects.

There have been some quirks with these amps to so if you can't get the effects off at all, you may need to either do a factory reset or firmware patch update.

Punching the effects or stompbox knob turns them on for adjusting (red) and 'locked' and non adjustable (green). Then also switch to bypass.
#22
I managed to get them all turned off.
But I still heard reverb, but figured out how to turn that off (or down rather).
Piece of cake.
About the only song I need reverb for is The Rolling Stones The Last Time.

Me thinks I won't be leaving the bedroom much over the next few days.
Although I do have to finish setting up a fucking drip system outside tomorrow.

sorry about the ceiling

have you been on headphones only?

i think that only picks up the preamp section of the amp - which should be fine anyway.

i'm more curious as to your perception of the 30w cranked up pretty good and if it sounds good to you.

i only play my Vypyr loud

Update the firmware, that seems to be a common fix for Vyper weirdness.

I played a little bit without the headphones earlier today.
But I haven't really cranked it yet.
Might be able to do that sometimes tomorrow.

Edit:
I haven't had any issues pop up yet, just have some new things to learn.
The firmware version is 1.55
Newest appears to be 1.59 or 1.58.
I don't have a USB to MIDI cable anyway.
I thought I had one, but haven't been able to find it yet.

I'm not real concerned about it. Everything seems to be working fine.

Not meaning to rain on your parade but why pay $180 (+ maybe sales tax) for an out of production modeling amp when you can buy a new one, latest model shipped to your door for $180?

Other than that... HNAD.

It was $180 out the door.

And it used to be you could haggle with them. I figured I could talk them down to like $150.
You could always haggle there and come out pretty good 90% of the time.
Used to be able to at least.
But they have changed there.
They all seem to think they are on Pawn Stars or something.

And something about walking into a pawn shop that has something you want and walking out empty handed?
And it was the amp I wanted.

I'm broke right now. On food stamps and all.
And actually, my mom paid for it (I have to pay her back though) and she's paranoid about using her credit card online. And she doesn't have Paypal. She doesn't even like to check her back statement online.
And (shhhhhhhh), I'm paying her back with food.

Gutless little bastard ain't it?
I used to use the headphone out into an aux/cd input on my stereo to get decent volume out of it when playing with a drummer.

I used it for vocals practicing in 2002. It is actually a pretty decent pedal platform for guitar.
