Endobiotics, Southward Window, Regency Hotel

Croke settles in a hole of darkness,
resting its grounds, spires
link neighborhoods from a vacant story
of rooftops and dim chimneys in shadow
from the street lamps below, the window glares
and colored signs adorning centuries of architecture,
the tangled yarn sloping to the riverbank, the vaguaries of
of others' lives overlayed on the glass by the latest broadcast
from Ohio--

A kidnapping plays out in the news,
and then another that ended with a death.
The orange lights out the window
become a network of transmittors and receivers,
the room fills with something darker than white noise.

That this town too could house wickedness,
that this view could be torn from me--
No. The streetlights flicker but notice nothing.
They'll switch off in measurable time.
The only sound is the circuit board that cuts
with the television to tranquility.
I open to a page from gideon: Psalm 140
but I need no help here. No news. I see
through your aura. I see the stones
that lead to the river. I see scaffolding.
I see the world push back against your wounds.

it was difficult to know where this would end up but that last stanza is incredible jimi. seriously, the images are so great. i could gripe about croke (star wars reference?) or the "- / no" part, but i think the outstanding parrts of this overshadow any sort of complaint.

Thanks a lot for the comments. It's good seeing you around so often again. the '-/no' is something i'll keep thinking about. have been toying with how to make that moment work from the start.

Don't know the star wars reference, but Croke Park is a stadium in Dublin. It looks like this with the lights on.
