What is the best advice you ever got from a song lyric? Or maybe mediocre advice? Or maybe it's plain shit advice, but list it here.

An example for the thicker of the lot;

"Don't take your guns to town, son. Leave your guns at home."

Because I was gonna take my guns to town, but Johnny Cash told me not to.

Anyway go!
"Pain or damage don't end the world nor despair, nor fuckin' beatings. The world ends when you're dead, until then you have more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back."

"Girl let me see you pop it pop it for that
Paper pop pop it pop it pa-pop it
For that paper drop then pop pop it
Pa-pop it for that paper
Then let me hit the blow
And pop it for the paper"

See I was going through a sexual drought when Journey told me to;

"Don't stop believing."

and then sure enough seventeen months later I got laid.
"Pain or damage don't end the world nor despair, nor fuckin' beatings. The world ends when you're dead, until then you have more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back."

Drive by Incubus if we're looking for serious answers (at least, it was good advice when I was fifteen. Though I still love the song now).

Also, hey kids, do you like violece? Wanna see me stick nine inch nails through each one og my eyelids? Wanna copy me and do exactly what I did? Thanks Eminem.

Now look what happened at Columbine...
Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise

"He was a boy, she was a girl, can I make it any more obvious?"
That shit is so deep. It really showed me how opposites can co-exist and even grow to love one another.

"See I don't give a fuck, that's the problem
I see a mothefucking cop, I don't dodge him
But I'm smart, lay low, creep a while
And when I see a punk pass, I smile
To me it's kinda funny, the attitude showing a nigga driving
But don't know where the fuck he's going, just rolling"

Hear no evil
Don't you see no evil
Don't you lay no evil down on me
You're gonna burn in hell
Speak no evil
Don't you think no evil
Don't you play with evil 'cause I'm free
You're gonna burn in hell
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
The fear of today
It will be gone
Due to our magic songs

He was an old time cowboy
Don't you understand
His eyes were sharp as razor blades
His face was leather tanned

His toes were pointed inward
From a hangin' on a horse
He was an old
Philosopher of course

He was so thin I swear
You could have used him for a whip
He had to drink a beer
To keep his britches on his hips

I knew I had to ask him
About the mysteries of life
He spit between his boots
And he replied

"It's faster horses
Younger women
Older whiskey
and More money"

He smiled and all his teeth
Were covered with tobacco stains
He said, "It don't do men no good
To pray for peace and rain"

"Peace and rain is just
A way to say prosperity
And buffalo chips is all
It means to me"

I told him I was a poet
I was lookin' for the truth
I do not care for horses
Whiskey women or the loot

I said I was a writer
My soul was all on fire
He looked at me
And he said "You are a liar!"

"Son, it's faster horses
Younger women
Older whiskey
More money"

Well, I was disillusioned
If I say the least
I grabbed him by the collar
And I jerked him to his feet

There was somethin' cold
And shiny laying by my head
So I started to believe
The things he said

Well, my poet days're over
And I'm back to bein' me
As I enjoy the peace
And comfort of reality

If my boy ever asks me
What it is that I have learned
I think that
I will readily affirm

"Son, it's faster horses
Younger women
Older whiskey
and More money"

"Don't call what you're wearing an outfit,
Don't ever say you're car is broke,
Don't worry 'bout losin' your accent,
A southern man tells better jokes,
Have fun, but stay clear of the needle,
Call home on your sister's birthday,
Don't tell 'em you're bigger than Jesus,
Don't give it away.

Don't sing with a fake British accent,
Don't act like your family's a joke."

The best advice I ever got from a song was from Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the SAme." One day I was trying to explain something to someones else concerning politics. This fellow was trying to understand why our political system never changes and I couldn't seem to explain it to him.

Then I blurted out "No matter how much we want to change things, the more the Song remains the same." Instantly, he got this "Now I get it" look on his face and then he left.

What you know about rockin' a wolf on your noggin?
What you knowin' about wearin' a fur fox skin?
I'm digging, I'm digging, I'm searching right through that luggage
One man's trash, that's another man's come-up

When you think about it, it's much deeper than initial thought.
