Childhood Memory
And it's here
on top of a mountain
I face it again, old foe,
deceiver, the loneliness of regret,
a scentless breeze,
a cricket at midday.
Crow call--he answers himself,
and I envy that alone
more than the world could give
when I ask myself
if I'll ever see you again.

for some reason i feel like this would be more potent without a title. like just a blank page with these words. the final five lines are really beautiful. brevity is a powerful tool and you wield it well here.

Thanks a ton guys. Glad you felt something from it. Kind of written at a very emotional moment for me so you know how that goes.
And yeah I hoped the title was kind of unobtrusive but still would contribute to close inspection but you could be right.
