I play in a surf punk band, and when I don't turn on the overdrive when going into the chorus, I need either a boost or a chorus pedal to be able to give me that extra umph. I play with a decent amount of reverb, so I would need something that wouldn't conflict and create a ton of feedback with my reverb. So if anyone could have any suggestions for either a chorus or boost pedal that are cheap and good, that would be great.

I play with a Bill Lawrence custom Fender Strat, a Boss FRV-1 Reverb Pedal, Boss SD-1 Overdrive Pedal, and a Fender Frontman 212R Fender Combo amp if that helps.

What exactly do you want the pedal to do?

Add distortion, add volume, both?

Wait Overdrive pedals wont work well with solid state combos so your best bet is getting an eq pedal. Look for a Danelectro fish and chips or a Joyo eq

I used to use a boss blues driver with a Fender Princeton ss. I almost never turned it off. Not to say the tone is amazing but it was at the time, haha.

I used to own a Frontman 212 so all I can tell you is to get a different amp. I wouldn't spend more money on anything until you get a better amp. A tube amp. I'm not a tube amp snob either.

I haven't even purchased the amp yet, I was planning on getting it this weekend. If that's not a good choice, what else should I get that's cheap and works for live shows?

Vox AC30 (or AC15) works well for surf.
Not sure about surf punk.

I know I have been "accused" of sounding to much like Dick Dale a few times with my AC30.
But the reverb and tremolo added to those comments I'm sure

A used JCM900 would be a good choice, especially if you mod it like mine. They go pretty cheap if you are patient and keep watching the market. $500 is at the low end of what they go for but not uncommon (assuming that you are in the US)

My bad, I misread that. I thought you were trying to offer to sell me something based on those questions. But yes, I am willing to go used and I live in socal.

Oh hahaha.

In that case please do not even consider the Frontman.

Look at a used Vox AC15C1, a used Marshall DSL401, a used Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

My Peavey Classic 50 cost me $425 used in pristine condition. Classic 30 would be even cheaper. Great amps.

+1 to Classic 30, also keep an eye out for a Laney VC30.

Also if you are dialing in a "surf" tone, the Vox AC15 (mentioned above) has a real nice tremolo on the amp that would nail what you might be looking at. I love that tone with some healthy reverb.

It doesn't look like you have a Tremolo pedal in your rig, so finding an amp with a nice built-in tremolo could be a nice addition to your tone, especially if you are playing some more surf stuff.
#22
you would likely be best served by a vox ac15/30.

peavey delta blues are really nice, but may be out of budget. however classic 30/50 are nice too.

I like how this turned into an amp thread. I was thinking about getting a used Peavey Classic 50.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

With good reason!

The amp is usually the root of the problem, and we don't want to help people "patch/bandaid" their problems - it just ends up amounting to a lot of wasted money with the root of the problem persisting.

TL;DR - what you really need is a new amp.

I dig the used AC15 idea!
The Bugera V22 is a nice tube combo too and it has a good sounding reverb, though I'm not sure the distortion channel (theoretically vintage voiced) will do good when it'll come to surf punk.
