So, sorry if this is a dumb question. But now that my band is getting serious, I'm looking to get a touring rig together for the spring. I'm looking at various hard rock-oriented heads like the Blue Voodoo or Peavey VTMs. The only problem is, we'll be touring in a car, not a van(it's only a two piece and neither of us have the cash to spring for a van right now) so space is at a premium; i.e., no room for a 4x12 or a 4x10. I'd still like to have an awesome, ballsy head for this; am I going to be blowing speakers if I've got a 2x12 or a 2x10 with one of these(or a similar amp head)? Is there some solution that's really obvious that I'm just missing?

As long as you match the impedance of the head to the cab, as well as the wattage of the amp is less than or equal to that of the speakers, you're fine dude

The solution is simple: The cab must be able to handle the power (watts) of the head.
It's even okay for the cab to be rated higher than the head; if it's lower you risk blowing the speakers.

P.S. don't forget to match impedance (ohms) as well.

They make a VTM 60 and a BV 60 besides their 100+ watt versions.

what is your budget and location? I might be able to find you a killer deal or a better solution.

technically you could run a 1x12 and mic it up if the speaker in that cab is rated for 100+ watts.

Hey Robb, thanks for the offer. I'm in Boston, Mass. I think I'm probably gonna end up hopping on a Blue Voodoo combo, but I'd be interested to see what you could find too.

VTM's are monster amps for the money, they incorporate a lot of features you can't find for anywhere near their price. I run my 60W model with an Avatar 2x12 loaded with a G12H30 and a Vintage 30.. I wouldn't recommend the V30 with a VTM though, I'm trying to trade mine for another speaker atm.

Have you considered getting a trailer?

But what the other guys said - you just need the right power and impedance and you can use anything.
The BV is a fine amp if you use the right tubes and even better if you mod them. The VTM may be a better choice though, takes less to make them into a killer amp (basically just load it up with JJ's.)

In the vein of cool features on relatively unpopular amps, also look at the Carvin X60B. They're dirt cheap too.
