So I have been using the same simple amp as I have been when I started playing guitar about 3.5 years ago and it's definitely time for a new one.

As an estimate, the amp can be as much as $500 or maybe slightly more. I'm not looking for amazing (although it would be great to have one), but I'm just looking for a great sounding amp.

Some of my favorite bands (which will tell you what kind of music I play and what sound I want) are:
-Avenged Sevenfold
-Black Veil Brides
-Asking Alexandria
-Pierce The Veil
-Blink-182
-Rise Against

Just a reminder.. I also want to play softer songs that are acoustic

I've never really looked too much into what amp would be good for me and I'm just looking for suggestions and a reason behind that suggestion also.

Thank you so much!

Peavey Vypyr Tube. Get one used and you'll be well under budget.
Telecasters-->Dunlop Volume Pedal-T1M Pearl-AMT Japanese Girl Wah-Line 6 M9-Ibanez DE7-EHX Cathedral-->Mesa Boogie Nomad 4x10 combo

$500 is enough to get a great amp (used).
+1 for the tube vyper. I'm assuming the bands on your list are metal, but if you want versatility too, the vyper tube would probably be a good way to go.
Also check out Jet City amps. I haven't tried one but I've heard so many good things about them I'm interested myself.
Fender Mustang/Derfenstein DST> Boss Power Wah> Pedal Monsters Klone> Bogner Uberschall> Walrus Audio Janus> Randall RM20> Line 6 M9> Randall RM20

if you were to get patient, maybe a peavey xxx jsx ultra combo.

Vypyr tube is what i would recommend as well short of the above.

Peavey Ultra 1x12 or 2x12 would work great and they are normally <$300 used
Jet City JCA5112
Peavey JSX
Laney VC50/100
Any of these amps can easily do what you want, the Peaveys and the Laney have a better clean than the Jet City if that really matters

What do you guys think of a Peavey 6505?..

It will nail most of what you want, it will do Blink/punk stuff, just with a bit more aggression.

You looking at the 1x12 or 2x12 combo?

I was going to recommend the 6505+ 112. With separate EQs you can easily dial in a decent clean tone on the rhythm channel.

I think the best would be the 6505/6505+ if you can find one.
Then I'd go Vypyr, and the 50w Jet City
Name's Luca.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Well I know almost nothing about amps at this point even though i look it up..
I know theres amp heads and amp cabinets, and i dont even know if this is one of those but it would be nice to know.. an amp head needs an amp cabinet?

basically, do i need 1x12 or 2x12 cabinet for it to work?

(sorry if i'm completely wrong, lol)

I think I'll definitely go with this amp though so the more info I can get the better
I really appreciate every comment, thank you everyone!

Yes if it is a head it will need a cab to work.

I was asking because they do make a 6505+ 1x12 combo (it is made in china) and a 5150/6505 2x12 combo that is made in USA. The 2x12 is much better than the 1x12 IMO but heavey as hell.

you can use any cab as long as it is the same wattage or more than the head. Mesa 2x12/4x12 are a great match to the peavey 5150/6506 heads

As someone who used to own a 5150 212, I honestly do not think the size and weight of that amp is an adequate trade off for the quality you get over the MIC 6505+. It IS a nicer amp, much better built, sturdier, obviously a Peavey USA product. But it's just way too big.

If it's going to be a permanent studio piece, fine, have at it. But if you're going to be moving it around, it's not worth the trouble.

Inb4 Cath. Even with a dolly you still have to get it into and out of the car. Still not worth it.

I think I'm deciding on the 6505 and i suppose the 1x12 only because i'm looking for cheap... in the end this will be MUCH BETTER than the Fender Frontman PR 421 Amp (I think it's this.. i actually searched google for what amp it was since I bought the amp from a friend, not a store)

I'm trying to look around for a cheap price but if anyone wants to help me out with that, I would appreciate it very very much. I thank every one of you for answering and helping me out!

search for guitar center's used site, they will ship to your GC. ask a lot of questions though from the first store, and have it sent to your store in case it is damaged. they are usually at a pretty good price.

get it. thats pretty reasonable, harder to find but IMO best case scenario for cheap metal if you can't afford a good head or cab. those 5150 cabs are like a rock.

ask about a lot of details from the reps though.
