The songs that you practice are the ones that are easy.

Marilyn Manson, Black Sabbath, and System of a Down were the bands I played when I was first starting. Beautiful People is about the first song I ever learned from start to finish. But Tool also has some nice riffs that are easy to play.

Avenge sevenfold hail to the king is moderate and sounds great, but if all else fails metallica is a great starting point : seek and destroy, hit the lights, blackened, msster of puppets, sandman, unforgiven 1&3, the day that never comes, just to name a few, they sound good and give you a good workout, if your looking for dificult try dragonforce fire and flames, or three inches of blood hydras teeth or forest king. Just imo

Rock:
Smells Like Teen Spirit or Come as You Are- Nirvana
When I Come Around- Green Day
Creep- Radiohead (I've come to hate the song but it's easy and people like it)
Smoke on the Water- Deep Purple
Free Fallin'- Tom Petty
Bulls on Parade- Rage Against the Machine
Shake Me Down- Cage the Elephant
Eye of the Tiger- Survivor
We're Not Gonna Take It or I Wanna Rock- Twisted Sister
Sweet Dreams (Are made of This)- The Eyrithmetics (I like this version better, but you can also do the Marilyn Manson version)
Uprising- Muse
Money- Pink Floyd
How You Remind Me- Nickleback (Shudder)

Metal
Paranoid or Iron Man- Black Sabbath
I'm not really a huge metal head so... take it from the other posts.

The solo in Iron Man is not easy.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
