You can probably do those volume swells all manually with the volume knob on the guitar with loads of reverb.

Otherwise, in software, just record the notes, then draw volume automation envelopes to make it 'swell' up in volume like that. They'd look like this: /l /l /l /l etc
Telecaster - SG - Jaguar
Princeton Reverb, Extra Reverb
P-Bass - Mustang Bass
Apogee Duet 2 - Ableton Suite

To be nitpicky, the swell of digital drawing, and a volume knob differs.

Digital one should be perfect.

Volume knob has a bit eq filtering going on as well, mainly the high end.
The knob also increases the actual gain input.

Personally used the knob of a guitar more, because it has depth going on.

Well yeah, I never said they were identical haha it sure sounds like volume knob (or pedal) in the sound clip, so that's the best way to mimic that sound. The OP asked for software options, so I gave that as well. The absolute best idea would be a volume pedal, but that can't be downloaded for free off the internet haha

Haha awesome! I definitely remember doing that, but can't remember what it was either. Hopefully you're enjoying whatever it is!
