You should watch the film The Guard, if you haven't already.

Gaelic Irish.
Galic irish and scottish and welsh are all different but they're all Gaelic (I think I am not 100% so I figured that just saying Irish was a better way to go than saying Gaelic).

Turns out he was Bartemius Crouch Jr. all along.

Fairly sure it's just called Irish, at least by the Irish.

I can speak little bit, it's taught to us but very few people fluently speak it, I know as much so that if i'm abroad and someone asks me to talk in Irish I say a few sentences.

"Irish (Gaeilge), also known as Irish Gaelic or Gaelic,4 is a Goidelic language"

I don't think they care what it's called.

It's generally called Irish.

It's taught from primary school up until the end of secondary school. I can speak a little bit but I'm mostly shit at it. There's not a whole lot of people who speak it as a first language.

Well gaeilge is what "irish" refers to, and gaelic is a slightly more domestic version of that

Gaelic is a sport, amadán.

I've never heard of anyone here call Irish 'Gaelic'. It's always called Irish. And like Whiskey said, Gaeilge is just Irish for Irish. That would be like the English calling French Francais.

Generally: no.

There are Irish speaking regions, and it's taught in schools but terribly. And then very rarely there are some who people speak it with their family (Dara O'Briain does).

Shameful, really. I blame the education system.

If anything you should blame the English ha ha ha.
