Yes, it won't have as much bass as 12" speakers will produce, but will do metal.

Those are kinda rare to find

Snagged one store room mint

boosting? Will be using Gibson
Lp Studio and basically just mess
with my own sound not chasing
any artist.

They make a 10" Celestion V30 and a 10" Celestion greenback depending on the sound you want if your not satisfied with the stock speakers.

The Ultras have lots of gain, you may not need a boost at all. What type of metal?

I use a GFS Greenie classic ($50) and a Bad Monkey ($45) for boosts. any type of TS type pedal will work well as a boost. You can also use a good EQ pedal or a boost pedal.

Yeah it will work.

You can always hook the combo to a 2x12 or 4x12 cab if you want. $200 is a good deal on that.

Yeah was thinking about having
my amp tech buddy pull out
the amp it self and converting
it into a head of course saving
the 4x10 if I decide to sell down
the line. I have a fully modded
tubescreamer clone as well as
a custom clean boost.

That would work just fine.

why are 10 inch cabs not popular for guitar yet they are more popular for bass?
#11
Huh, I don't think I've ever heard of that configuration, and I'm a pretty big Peavey buff.

I wouldn't bother personally, 410 combos are an absolute nightmare to deal with, weight and size wise.

On top of that 10" speakers are not optimal at all for guitar, outside of rare situations (certain vintage tones, for example).

They are certainly not optimal for metal.

$200 is a hard price to argue with, but I'd personally have held out for a head, they go for $250 easy, and you can use them with whatever cab.

Great amps though.

You would be surprised how metal
the 4x10 can get. Haven't had it long
but have gotten a very decent tone
with some tweaking and boosting.
Drawbacks are not enough low end
and yes it weighs a ton. But
for jamming at home its great.
My 6505 arguably is better but
the ultra sounds good through
the 4x12 to.

Hack it up, have a cab and a head, more flexible.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking
make a nice little 60 watt head.

+1

Then you will still have a nice 4x10 for other purposes.
