As a music listener, I am someone who goes through lots of phases. I'm the kind of person who will play the shit out of a few songs/albums until I get absolutely and undeniably sick of them.

However, there are certain albums/bands that really specifically come out when the weather is acting a certain way. There are some obvious ones, like more lighthearted rock (ska, punk, etc.) coming out in the summer for me, but right now as the weather is starting to get a little colder and the days are getting shorter I've really been feeling A Perfect Circle and Circa Survive. They're just great fall bands.

I know one of my best friends randomly has a Pearl Jam phase he goes through every spring. There's really no reason, it's just a thing

What are some of your seasonal preferences in music?

Summer: Beach Boys summer tunes
Winter: Beach Boys winter tunes

Black metal is better in winter too, because it's hard to be kvlt vnd frostbitten in shorts
#7
Any post rock song compliments the mood of winter nicely, such as Sigur Ros or The Appleseed Cast. I like folk and a little ambient music for fall, e.g. Deer Tick, The Shins, Horse Feathers, Hammock, Stars of the Lid. Same with spring, as well as a little electronic (Boards of Canada). Then psychedelic or rock for summer (Animal Collective, Hendrix, Boards of Canada, Panda Bear, RHCP).

i mostly listen to music inside now, so i find that the weather doesn't have much of an effect on what i listen to. i wish i could say something like "kvlt black metal in the most brutal of winters" but i live in California.

This time of the year, I really dig Nox Arcana (major props to you Thrill-house, they're awesome), Midnight Syndicate and The Misfits.

See, that's really interesting to me because I see Radiohead as mostly a summer band. King of Limbs, In Rainbows, OK Computer to me all scream chill, warm weather.

I can definitely see Kid A and Amnesiac in that light, though.

in rainbows is the only radiohead that can stand a chance with me in maybe the spring and mid to late fall. rest of the material/season time i will do everything i can to not listen to it

Leonard Cohen and Radiohead always creep up on me around this time every year.

Håkan Hellström and Björn Olsson always does the same around spring.
Velvet Underground is another spring time band for me. The first days of sunglasses and jeans jacket.

they are good for when its raining, foggy or just cold and gloomy outside eh

"Psychedelic chill out goa trance" or something in that fashion.

There is this guy on Youtube, called "spaceman" I think. He posts great compilations.

Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, and Soundgarden I find are good for Fall. December is only xmas tunes. Metal for post December, although metal xmas songs are allowed. This is the law of the land.

During fall I listen to a lot of The Band, among other warmer 70s rock bands like America and whatnot. Summer is a lot of Springsteen, CCR, etc. Neil Young all year round, every year.

For some reason I always find myself listening to some of the earlier Rush albums in Winter. Namely A Farewell To Kings and Caress Of Steel.

Was you moving to the beat of "Fitter Happirer" or something?

OT. Morning View by Incubus is my favourite summer album. Every time the sun starts to come out, so does that album.
