I've had issues playing again since I broke my hand. Most of standard tuning is complicated for me to even begin to play. I started watching Andy McKee and was inspired enough to keep trying, with my acoustic anyway. Most of what I play is in DADGAD but I've been playing my electric in drop d. Mainly just trying to have fun with it. Can anyone help me find some enjoyable riffs in drop d,or mellow songs? Conversions are rather tricky now but figure the more I can keep my fingers moving, the better the might move. Thanks.

Killing in the name - Rage against the machine
Uprising - Muse
Everlong - Foo fighters

What music are you into?
You hit 'em and they get back up
I hit 'em and they stay down

I've been listening to billy mclaughlin, don Ross, Andy McKee ect... Instrumental acoustic for the most part. Playing my electric lately though so I'm open to anything that isn't too metal and has a nice riff here or there.

You can play anything that was originally played in standard as you have the exact same notes available to you. Only the notes played on the low E, now D, string need to be moved.

Watch everyone in the series of Candyrat alongside Andy, and Michael Hedges and Leo Kotke for further and similar ideas

Learn a little bit more theory online while your hand is broken :P stop playing guitar as much unless you are more more rehabilitated than my understanding.

You have the ability to drone open D, play around in DADGAD....such a cool tuning
Legato and fluidity in your playing is where it's at

Left hand index and middle have two plates and four screws which limit movement to 75%. Happened nine years ago. Everyday I feel they move more. Thanks guys, good tunes!

I can certainly see how the injury might affect your ability to hold down a chord but I'm still struggling to understand how standard tuning can be "too complicated" for you when 5 of the 6 strings are tuned exactly the same in Drop D.

Papa Roach... Some Asking Alexandria songs. Most of the songs I play are in Drop C. Sorry I'm not much help.
