hi guys

i have owned my blackstar s1-45 combo for around 18 months now, and just for the record i freakin love it

over the last 2 weeks or so i have noticed a drop in tonal quality, especially on the clean channel, it has become muddy even with the gain right down, im guessing this is because the valves need replacing....

the problem i am having as this is new to me is working out weather i need to replace pre-amp or power amp???

how could i test this to work out for sure that it is time for a change??

just for referrence the set up is 1 ECC82 and 3 ECC83 in the pre-amp and 2 EL34 in the power amp.

any info would be great

cheers

Have you tried it with other guitars and cables? You could of course buy some spare pre-amp tubes and try if they make a difference.
