I'v had some fun making some acoustic rock n roll and blues rock. Raw and rustic, which is how I like music. 60's sound stripped down to its roots and performed with just acoustic guitar and voice.

I recorded these pretty basically.

AT-2020 mic Getting vocals and guitar, and the guitars direct signal blended in to. A bit of Reverb added afterwards. Saffire 6 interface and Live 9.

I recorded 'as live'. So performed as I would at a gig.

Here are 2 originals.

Rock n Roll (Is My Middle Name)

Promises

and my own version of Route 66:

Thanks to any one who listens. Let me know what you think.

jk,
I used to work at an engineering consulting firm located on Route 66 in California, so I thought I'd give that a try. It's tough to beat the Depeche Mode version (in my opinion), but I thought your version is surprisingly good! Nice vocals & guitar playing! Perhaps you could review my music at this link:

Hey Aaron. Thanks. Personally I'm not keen on the Depech Mode version. But I appreciate it. I based my cover on the Rolling Stones version.

Sure I'll check out your stuff. Its always good to share original music. =)

I had a listen to Promises and was very pleasantly surprised! Good stuff. The sound quality is nice. The playing and the vocals really suit each other, although I feel like you're holding back a bit on the vocals now and then which makes you sound a bit insecure. Sounds very raw in the good way (and a bit dry though). Solid song. The left-panned vocals are a bit weird I think..

Anyway, good job! I think you'll dig our new song, I'd really appreciate if you let us know what you think of it! https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1620861

Thanks. I'd been listening to John Mayer a lot around the time I wrote that. I dont know if that shows.

About the vocals. First I recorded Promises in one take. It wasnt a preplanned recording. I just had a spare few minutes and my mic was set up.

I also have been diagnosed with a tonsil infection since recording that which was coming on at the time.

I really like playing and will do a bigger recording.

I will check out your band. =)
