Hi Pit,

I don't make too many threads here any more but I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Basically I bought a new computer about a week ago because my one decided to bite the dust (after a good 7 years, a good little soldier that one). I deleted my iTunes library. Completely on purpose, I could have recovered it but it was 800GB and it got me thinking; I need a clean slate.

So basically now I have a near empty library, just a couple of albums I bought on iCloud and my favourite album of all time, Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a memory, and I thought maybe you'd like to suggest a few albums for me to check out and fill up my new iTunes library

I had all kinds of music on there, from experimental Classical like Xenakis, through Rock, Metal, Jazz, Electro/Dubstep/etc. so go nuts!

Couple of rules if you please; only albums, not single songs, and try keep the suggestions towards those with some musical merit (I'm quite open minded, but some artists are just shit <Beiber>.

Thank you and have a good morning.

I'm kind of doing the same thing at the moment, in that I'm deliberately broadening what I listen to to draw influences from for my own music.

Techno bruv, it's sick

Steve Vai-Sex & Religion

First one suggested that I actually owned before. Absolutely brilliant album, favourite song was a tie between the title and Rescue Me or Bury Me.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'm searching them out now!

Feel free to piggyback, it's all about the hardstyle for me.

Those should be in every music library.

Deadmau5 is pretty chill. Checking out Mystery Skulls now, I like what I hear. I can't actually pin down an album name though, are they purely Eps at the moment?

Might as well make some specific suggestions other than Techno whilst I'm here

I LOVE this one. I'm a huge Massive Attack fan - this puts me in the same chill mood.

Try listening to Iron Maiden - Aces High. You would like it because you go to school for classical music and that song is more like classical music than it is like rock or blues.

That thread had some of the most atrocious arguments from authority that I have ever seen. And just a ton of unbelievably ridiculous statements from you in general, though I'm sure that you don't recall the particularly thread that I am referencing.

Seriously though, Graveland, all of it.

There's been loads of great suggestions for you so far, here's some of the albums I frequently recommend to people:

Swoon - Silversun Pickups (alt-rock/shoegaze)
Vows - Kimbra (quirky pop, highly recommended)
Regatta de Blanc - The Police (punk/reggae, probably their strongest album)
Echoes - The Rapture (dark sounding dance-punk)

Future Shock - Herbie Hancock (early instrumental hip-hop)
Kick - White Rose Movement (electro-clash/post-punk)
Mandala - RX Bandits (ska-influence prog, some fantastic guitar)
Wipe Out (2005) - The Surfaris (the best instrumental surf rock album I've heard)
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young & Crazy Horse (rock, great guitar album)
End on End - Rites of Spring (hardcore punk/original emo stuff)
Tago Mago - Can (experimental rock, if you don't get the album at least listen to Halleluwah)
Switzerland - Electric Six (not a novelty band at all despite Gay Bar, lyrical and musical brilliance that doesn't take itself too seriously)
Sound of Silver - LCD Soundsystem (dance-punk, my all-time favourite song (All My Friends) is on this album)
Sewed Soles - The Greenhornes (bluesy garage rock)
Fishermans Blues - The Waterboys (folk rock)
