Vox AC15 with the Alnico Blue is going to be your best bet IMO. To me, the Alnico has a more smooth, rounded out tone with more of a high end bite to it. Also, if you read a bit of history on the Vox AC30s, the Alnico Blues contributed to that "Vox" sound, so it's a safe bet that if you are wanting to hit those early Beatles tones, it would be wise to drop the extra cash. I plan on doing the same with mine once I get some new tubes for it etc...

Plus, on the bright side, they just released the AC15C1X which has the Alnico Blue built in, which saves you about $100 off the actual speaker.

The AC4c1 is a pretty cool amp. I played one with a mod that made it sound pretty close to an AC30. You can get a 10" Celestion Greenback or Gold that sounds good with it also

Weber also makes a 10" Blue Pup or Silver Ten if you want a great Alnico Blue type speaker in a 10" frame. The Celestion Gold 10 is very expensive and they don't make a 10" Blue.

If you play with other people the AC15

If you just play at home AC4c1 will be fine

A friend of mine has that exact setup with the Blue. Its one of my favorite tones. I think his band has a few YouTube videos if you wanna hear a Ric through an AC15 with a blue, they're called Shit Box Jimmy. (sorry, I'm not sure how to post links)

That's not distortion. He rarely uses pedals, all tube break up.

well i support these tones, i would recommend the WGS equivalent to the celestions. the alnico's are like 50 bucks cheaper than the celsestions and the regular modes are like 50% cheaper than most regular celestial models.

oh, and WGSs are amazing.

Compared to their tube amps, the VT is rubbish.
