Everyone has their preferences in artists/bands and genres (personally i prefer melodic prog metal, as well as other sub-genres of metal), as well as genres and artists they HATE

but some of us, me included, have those few guilty pleasures we hate to enjoy. the "windows up, volume down" kind of songs or bands

so people, if you can think of any, what are your musical guilty pleasures?

Edit: no talking shit, in-depth questioning (asking what they like about theirs is acceptable, but nothing more), and NO FIGHTING. arguments will be ended swiftly

I can't really think of anything I listen to that could be considered a guilty pleasure.

Even I could, why would I tell anybody?

I actually kinda like some of Avenged Sevenfold's songs.
And a couple of Trivium's.

Even for guilty pleasures, that's pretty guilty.

i happen to think Avenged Sevenfold is alright. it seems like everyone who is really vocal about how much they suck is mistaking them for a full-on metal band.

i personally see A7X as "metal for preppy people", or is that just me?

i'd rather call them a hard rock band. with a ton of other influences.

their fans might all just happen to be preps though, i dunno.

Vengaboys and other various cheesy 90s europop. And anything Eurovision, but everyone that knows me knows I love stuff like that so I wouldn't describe it as something to feel guilty about.

No guilty pleasures, I freely admit that I like whatever music I do.

thats a hell of a guilty pleasure man lol id question it, but my plan for this thread was no judgement

Ariana Grande. Seriously. She's got a friggin' crazy range, unseen since Mariah Carey's heyday, and lots of enticing vocal melodies. On top of that, she often has pretty well produced songs with great beats; brings me back to that mid-late 90s R&B sound. Sure, her lyrics are pretty shallow and full of clichés, but I can get past that.

I hate her image, but if you disassociate her music with the image, she's actually got good tunes.
And she can sing well live (I've not been to a concert, but youtube and stuff...)

And yeah, I judge myself too, don't worry.

i gotta be honest, im REALLY not proud of it, but…

…i kinda like a few pierce the veil songs. theyre cheesy, theyre generic, and they play out the whole "scene bitch-panty-dropping" shtick with their lyrics and image (which bugs the hell out of me), but theyre catchy

no lie though, their spanish-sounding parts are pretty good though

When I saw the title of this thread I was all like 'why would anybody be ashamed of the music they listen to?' and then I saw the answers people were giving and I was like 'oh...'

I guess the closest I've been to being ashamed of an album I enjoyed listening to was 'Follow the Reaper' by Children of Bodom. It's cheesy, musical wankery for last decade's greasy skinny-jean teenagers, and worst of all it's by far their best album. But I really liked a lot about it, atleast until I got bored of it and realised the band have done appoximatly 0 other good albums or even songs. Tends to be the problem with teeny-bopping bands, they're all about immediatly grabbing you without any concern for keeping the album interesting for repeat listening.

Jpop, especially music from K-On. This shit is just so damn catchy. Not to mention if you pay attention to what's actually going on, it's pretty ridiculous. The bass parts are absolutely nuts, there's all kinds of chromaticism and diminished chords, there's weird jazzy breaks, some pretty decent solos, and the drumming is so ADHD it's laughable. If you can get past the squeaky little girl vocals, it's pretty enjoyable.

That new Avenged Sevenfold song, Hail to the King. I heard it on the radio the other day and really liked it, but I can't stand their other stuff. It reminded me of Judas Priest quite a bit.

Also Frantic from St Anger.

I always say Eliza Doolittle, but really I don't feel guilty about liking her, because she's hot and her music actually has some integrity to it.

My real guilty pleasures are that I actually enjoy some Katy Perry and Lady Gaga songs. And one Nicki Minaj song, which is probably the most guilty because I really dislike her most of the time. Actually I enjoy a lot of the pop music from the 2012 because I have good memories from my senior year associated with it, dances and parties and stuff.
