I remember when I was a kid and watched the original trilogy - I lost my shit. It was freakin' awesome. Light sabers. Hairy people. Goddamn Yoda and shit.

Then the prequels came out, and you were like, "Yeah, ok, not bad, I guess."

And then you grow up and start noticing how much of a business man George Lucas was with all the Star Wars Merchandise he brought out. Fair enough, you gotta make your money while the cow is fresh, but as the prequels showed, he had gotten a bit too ambitious.

Now you got star wars cartoons, goddamn Yoda in advertisements, freakin' re-issues of Star Wars action figures. Does anyone else feel like their childhood has been manhandled?

Now that Disney bought all the rights I feel like the milking is just about to begin again. Is anyone else jaded? Is anyone else scared?

star wars is bad all my friends like it, so i have to hear about it constantly

as to the poll, game of thrones is lame and the walking dead has half of a good season collectively.

Kinda annoyed by the fans who look at you like you're a moron for not watching it, it seems boring to me.

All the stuff you're complaining about has been around the entire time pretty much.

Tbh I have zero exposure to any of it so I'm not "over it". I can still watch the original trilogy with as much enjoyment as ever.

Since Star Wars came out there has been merchandise for it, the execs thought it was going to bomb and gave Lucas 100% merchandising rights. Lucas started milking it from the start.

Where do you see all the Star Wars stuff all the time in order for you to ruin your perception of it? I rarely see anything about apart from the odd ad on TV, you might be looking a bit to hard.

It's not that you're a moron if you haven't seen it, it's that Star Wars is one of the most iconic and legendary movies that has ever existed and it's just one of those things that everyone should see, regardless of whether or not they actually like it.

OT: I don't see it too much in my day to day life except when the Star Wars facebook page posts something and all the comments (usually completely unrelated to the post) say things like "star wrs is grestist movies ever luv u from brasil cant wate for 7th episod"
It was my privilege

Walking Dead is so ****ing overrated. Perhaps the most annoying characters on TV right now.

Game of Thrones has its faults too, like too much pointless nudity, Sam's whole storyline, and the torture porn with Theon but the characters on there are at least likeable, even if they're not supposed to be (Tywin mother****ing Lannister).

As for the topic at hand, more Star Wars is always good.

I went by the toys section at ASDA a while ago to get shit for my Halloween night. I was amazed by the Star Wars stuff they were still selling. They were selling more Star Wars stuff than anything else.

Yoda ads here and there. Yoda is supposed to be a Jedi Master, he's not supposed to sell me shit. That shit bothers me.

They've been releasing the animated ones recently. That's how marketing works.

It's a work of fiction, it's also intended for children. The toys have always been there, as have adverts and all kinds of shit. You ever heard of the Christmas special?

I love Star Wars, have done since I 6 and saw the original trilogy for the first time, I watch all the films every now and then. I recognise though that Lucas intended it for children, not adult men to pick out plot holes and nerd rage who shot first.

Don't be a hipster about Star Wars most of us weren't even born when it came out originally.

The lack of faith in this one is disturbing.

And both sucks, the only difference between Game of Thrones and Walking dead it's that in one you have sex with live people and the other with zombies.

I know, that's what I mean. They're using any excuse to sell more toys.

Dude. Harry Potter was for kids. Star Wars wasn't. Well, the prequels, maybe.

Yes.

But does it not feel like people are fisting Chewbacca?

Marketing ruins everything. Spinoffs (and even movies) aside, the Star Wars universe is friggin' awesome and is rivaled by few in terms of scope, setting, and characters.

Watching that makes me realize that Obi-Wan is a total dick for not just finishing off Anakin. He could have just beheaded him and completely prevented Darth Vader from ever existing. And even if there was no way he could've known that Anakin would survive, what kind of kind, gentle Jedi would let a friend and fellow Jedi burn to death?

Hell no.

I don't have much interest in stuff besides the Episodes I through VI, but you can never have enough Star Wars in your life.

The Clone Wars should have either been a movie by itself or some obscure thing you hear legends of but never actually see, like the Time War in Doctor Who. Prequel could have been better executed, RotS tied up too many loose ends (C3PO and R2D2 given to Wedge Antilles right there for one), and AotC could have done without the teen romance. Other than that, no complaints.

George Lucas has always been a uncreative twat. If you read the original script for Star Wars, you will see it was complete and total cheesy rubbish. Some other dude wrote and directed most of it. Lucas knew he was onto a gold mine he could never recreate by himself so he has milked every coin he could since then.

Harry Potter ended up drawing in as many adults to read/watch it as it did kids. So did Star Wars. Not everything has to be dumbed down to the point of teletubbies to be for children.

He either wrote or co wrote all the films and directed 4 of them. He did how ever steal a lot the ideas from westerns and Flash Gordan.

Obviously I've seen all the movies several times, but nobody around me talks about it often, and I haven't watched any of them in a while. So no, I'm not sick of Star Wars.
#38
I'm bored of the films, but KOTOR and Battlefront 2 are awesome games, I will give it that.

We're talking about a science fiction movie based on old adventure serials, not Werner Herzog.

I've only seen one (or part of one) Star Wars movie and it seemed pretty boring to me so I personally don't care about it
