Hi all. I've noticed that on this forum people have been mentioning Ibanez Prestige models costing around $750 in the US, but when I search the same model (RG3550MZ) in the UK it costs £1250, which in USD is nearly 2000!
Does anyone know if that's a fault with the dealer or it's relevant to import charges?
It's a shame because I'd love to get a prestige :/

They are talking used prices buddy.

You can get very good deals on used Ibanez guitars here in the UK.

What are you looking for?

Oh, I see.
I'm looking for a metal geared guitar. Currently battling out between an LTD V and an Ibanez RG.
I do want some kind of level of diversity, but yeah. It's mainly metal that would be played on it.
The budget is about £800 and I'm located in Berkshire. Ideally looking for something new.
I prefer passive pickups but am open minded either way in terms of pickups.

Buy that.

Replace the pups if you don't like the EMGs.

Best used ibanez on eBay at the moment in my opinion.

My old 3270 remains one of the best guitars I've ever owned.

This is also a great deal.

Especially with the Original Edge and Dimarzio Tone Zone and PAF Pro.

Those are some great suggestions. I particularly like the second one which looks like Teemu from Wintersun's custom!
I'm not in the situation of being able to buy it yet (Still a few months) but I'll definitely bear these suggestions in mind.

chappells (now yamaha music london) has a new (possibly ex-display) 1570Z (I think) for £499 since they're getting rid of most of their non-yamaha stuff. Might be worth considering. With a pickup swap it's more or less a 3550 (minus the maple board).

I haven't tried it, though, I dunno what condition it's in. If the vigier bass i got from them is anything to go by, it should be fine (but obviously in cases like this you have to treat each case on its own merits).
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
