I wrote this in honor of my father's passing, but I also wanted to write it in a way that wasn't self serving, something everyone could feel and relate to. It would be completely selfish of me to think that I was the only one to have ever lost someone close, and to portray that image in my writing would seem like a complete waste of a message.

Live On

We are fragile
In this cycle of life
We are mortal
But memories are immortalized

The pain and sorrow
Death is so humbling
The time we borrow
It's wasting away
The voices we yearn for
Engraved into our hearts
The faces we mourn for
Shed light through the dark

The ones we've lost, taken before their time
Live on through remembrance
Solace, a gift from the hands of time
Their love will find you again
And memories will live on

The lives we live
Transcend this mortal plane
The good they've done
Will always remain

The pain and sorrow
Death is so humbling
The time we borrow
It's wasting away
The voices we yearn for
Engraved into our hearts
The faces we mourn for
Shed light through the dark

The ones we've lost, taken before their time
Live on through remembrance
Solace, a gift from the hands of time
Their love will find you again
And memories will live on

Beyond the tears we cry
Stands a strength everlasting
As the days go by
Time only seems to stand still
But we are strong
Strong enough to carry on
It won't be long
Their voice will guide you through

The pain and sorrow
The time we borrow
The voices we yearn for
The faces we mourn for

The ones we've lost, taken before their time
Live on through remembrance
Solace, a gift from the hands of time
Their love will find you again
And memories will live on
