Emphasis on small. I don't care about the wattage. It would be nice if it was low wattage, but solely because of retube costs, no other reason.

That out of the way. The must haves:
- 12" speaker
- speaker jack so I can disconnect internal speaker
- Gain & Master Volume controls. No non-MV amps.
- 3 band EQ (somewhat flexible here)
- FX loop (somewhat flexible here)

I'm looking at the Blackheart Little Giant and the Laney Cub 12R, but I'm not sure if either of them have the speaker jack thing.

I want the actual enclosure itself to be as small as possible - the primary purpose of this amp would be to be a small bedroom practice amp.

Budget: I guess around $250 tops. Used.

The Blackheart doesn't have an effects loop, but the matching cab is really compact.

I would go with an egnater tweaker 15.

Not a fan of Tweakers. Will keep an eye out if I see one super cheap though.

EDIT: That does check all of the boxes, huh. Will keep an eye out.

Why would you want a combo if you're going to disconnect the internal speaker?

Also, blackstar HT-5? Like you said, it's just a practice amp, lol.

So does a Champ 25 SE. They're under $250 all the time. Headphone jack and reverb, too. I had one for a few yeats; they're killer amps for the price.
.

Remove V1 & V6. Put the 12AX7 from V1 into V6 and leave V1 empty. Try the vibrato channel.

But not the HT5 nor the Champ 25SE are all tube.

Blackheart is pretty great for the price!
But if you want an FX loop you gotta take the soldering iron and your best DIY apron.

If you can find them used for a good price, I'd suggest the Ampeg GVT-15 combo or the Bugera V22 or the Jet City JCA2212.
Name's Luca.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

But you know what you really want is a CEC Suckerpunch, don't ya? Craig might make you a Toll Free Express combo.
Now I'm just being cruel aren't I?

Peavey Classic 30 has all of the above without any messing around. Good amount of headroom for playing at home or in the studio, and breaks up nicely when you push it.

Or, Orange offer a combo version of the Tiny Terror. Depends how much / little headroom - or what tone - you're after.

I'm thinking it can be something I can throw in the backseat, as a just in case measure. Head goes down? No problem, I'll just put my little [insert combo here] on my cab and be good to go in a jiffy.

For $250? You negotiate with him on that, and get back to me.

Hot Rod Deluxe? Isn't that thing pretty big/heavy? I know the Classic 30 is.

Tiny Terror combo could be a lot of fun. Don't see it happening for $250 though, those things are expensive little shits.

Honestly the Cub is probably your best bet, take away any one of your requirements and you have a few more options but together you'll have a hell of a time.

I'm dumb. I'll just get a Jet City JCA2212C. I actually want one of those. Completely forgot about that til now.

How are you going to get it under budget though

I've seen them used around his budget, luckily I got mine on a musicians friend deal of the day for $300 new

Ew why?

Eh, that shouldn't be a big deal though. I only want the loop just in case I have something like a POD I need to run through it.

I'm just gonna throw a +1 in on the Classic 30. Takes pedals like a beast and sounds great.

FWIW, modding it to pedal level is stupid easy. Variable level even moreso, since you don't have to worry about nailing the exact signal levels. I'd do it for the cost of parts if you were closer.
