I'm kind of a noob to tube amps, so I've got one question!

The other day I bought a Peavey 6505 112 Combo from a guy. Everything is working fine in it! But the gain. Like.. I thought this was a metal amp?

I was expecting a lot more gain from this. But my question is:

If a preamp tube is blown/not working, will the amp still work? Would the channel its assigned to still work?

I was surprised at the lack of gain in it, I was thinking maybe it's a blown preamp tube.

No I haven't, being I play it in my bedroom.

Post-Gain is volume on Peavey amps. What you need to turn up is Pre-Gain. On channel 2.

I know how the EQ works, and my pre gain is actually all the way up! So I'm not sure what's wrong!

yeah if your pre-gain is all the way up there's something wrong. they have tons of gain.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Tried more than one guitar? Let's not rule anything out here. Poor cable? It happens!
