I think I've narrowed it down to these two pedals. Anyone have much experience with either? There is no 'Try before you buy' option for me. My area isn't great for bass gear... Lots for guitarists though.

Any way I'm looking for a pedal to retain a decent amount of clean tone and also bring some aggression for a rock / hard rock setting.

Thoughts?

the bass muff has a dry switch which mixes the clean and fuzz tone together, the only problem with it in my eyes, is that the dry volume is a constant and the volume knob just adds fuzz on top depending on how high you have it set.
the mxr allows you to mix the two independently. despite this, i prefer the muff. no reason as far as i can tell, i just do. i guess fuzz just makes me happy
DONT RISK IT, BUY A BASS AMP

i don't think so no, i think it takes the clean volume, then adds the fuzz on top, of course it gets louder, but it won't let you have quiet fuzz.
