Decided to buy myself an early Christmas present for the summer holidays, to maximise time pissing off the neighbours... Immediately took it outside today and applied the mandatory all-knobs-dimed test, and safe to say I was not disappointed. Only used it for an hour or so before work so still not completely savvy with the eq and channel jumping. Any tips welcome.

Ohh that looks nice... hNAD/early self Christmas present.

You see that drone flying around outside? The one with the NoiseBuster missiles strapped on? It's been programmed to home on overworked output transformers. Your neighbors were not amused.

Wuuh, nice!

Happy NAD, brother

Cheers for the advice, the guy I bought it from said 'no mods and only played a handful of times' so I'm assuming they're just stock. Haven't even gotten them properly hot yet but I guess Marshall would put medium quality tubes in at the factory? Yet to read anything on this

Is it running EL34's?

Generally, SED =C= if you can afford them (and they are getting very expensive since the factory closed) and JJ if you can't.
Which type (EL34, EL34L, 6CA7) depends on how you are going to be running it and what sort of tone you are after.

We just did a backyard jam at my house, roughly 6pm-7pm, cops showed up around 10pm - 'we had a noise complaint.. but ahhh... now theres no noise so.. we have better things to do seeya'. Cops in perth are generally pretty nice, but I expect to see them a few more times, half the reason I bought the amp was to **** with my neighbours!

Bout Fucking Time

Electric Guitar is supposed to be loud. People forget that Amp is short for Amplification.

I'm sick of seeing all of the threads about how people need a small wattage amp so they can play with themselves in the bedroom and not bother anyone.

**** that!

Good man. Every now and then the neighbourhood needs shaking up a bit. I've got one neighbour that now comes to my gigs because he wanted to hear me playing better than he could hear me from his home (a block away).
Hell, when we rehearsed at the shed last time (a warehouse in an industrial estate) we had some old guy ask us if we could turn down a little because he was having trouble hearing his TV - a mile away.
I like your form.

Thanks for the advice, any recommendations for the power section?

winged C or JJ's.

if you really want, get a set of NOS mullards for it. might not be totally worth the price, but it kinda is... :P

really, i'd just play the power tubes til they died before replacing them.

that is a jtm45 right? what power amp tubes do those run? EL34? KT66? 5881's?

my clone runs the KT66's, i was assuming your's runs EL34's.

edit: nvmd, i see cath already asked this question.

yes, as in the plexi's have a MKII emblem? so both the plexi's and the JTM45's have a MKII on them?
