...without too emo, "whiney", vocals.

For example, Escape The Fate would be a good example of what i'm not looking for.
I like Eyes Set To Kill, but the lead singer is a girl (and for my taste, girls can pull off those kind of vocals). Right now i'm looking for bands with male lead singers.
I like At The Drive-In, but i'm looking for something more "pop" right now.

Essentially, i'm searching for:
  • modern post-hardcore bands;
  • with that touch of pop-punk;
  • AND with male singers who sing (mostly) clean without those over-the-top emo vocals.

Thank you for your help.

This should really go in the Rec thread, but here's a quote form another user that'll be some help.

Some random bands that would pass as post-hardcore here are: At the Drive-In, Alexisonfire, The Blood Brothers, Drive Like Jehu, The Fall of Troy, Fugazi, Glassjaw, Hopesfall, La Dispute, A Lot Like Birds, Lower Definition, Poison The Well, and Touché Amoré. Those are just a handful.

Can also add Botch, Dance Gavin Dance, Thrice (kinda), Glassjaw, State Faults to that list.

The Fall of Troy

Thank you very much, i'll start checking those out.

Out of those, i only know The Fall Of Troy and i love their music. They do have an awesome pop sensibility, but it's way more technical than what i'm looking for now.

As recommended to me by a YouTube buddy of times past:

I would set myself on fire for you - (I REALLY like three. Great song.)

Indian summer - (Angry son. Enough said haha.)
City of caterpillar - (not a huge fan, but they are a good one to start on.)
Yaphet Kotto - (are you still working at that cafe? I think it is called)
Kodan armada - (don't like these guys, but you might. Cops and No has never had 3 letters are listenable.)
I wrote haikus about cannibalism in your yearbook
1905 - (change and fall I think are the songs I like are called...)
Make me
Four hundred years - (listen to an hour too late)
The saddest Landscape - (listen to the sixth golden ticket)
I have dreams
Joshua fit for battle - (listen to sleepwalkers guide)
Jeromes dream - (If you don't like this band try it again later. I thought of this band as a joke at first, but then I listened to them randomly and they are my favorite. There is some really good live footage of them on youtube you should check out. It's seriously like being there. This band and I would set myself didn't use microphones live which is pretty cool)
Please let me keep this memory, just this one ..

Broadway is one of my favorite post-hardcore bands. Their new album wasn't too great but their debut "Kingdoms" is still one of my favorites. Here's a link to their most popular song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5P_AYwTr2A
and harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene

I would really hesitate to call that song anything to do with Post-Hardcore.

It's post hardcore in the sense that it's Metalcore with a gimmick and cleaning signing, which is what a lot of people think is Post-Hardcore these days.

I really don't understand all these genre's...

When I was a teen THIS was hardcore:

THIS was hardcore:

Nowadays people are calling bands that just play open power chords in syncopated rhythms to... EVERY OTHER INSTRUMENT.. hardcore?!

I understand you guys are talking about this thing called 'post-hardcore' but yeah..

I mean, I like that kind of music, but I don't know what else to call it.

OT: Maybe Before Their Eyes?

Or Silverstein. My favorite.

Lastly, Too Late The Hero has some good stuff.

At this point I'm not even sure I'm matching the description, but you should give it a try for the hell of it.

Thank you all for the suggestions!

Yesterday i ended up not having time to check'em out, but i'll do it today once i leave the office.

On the plus side most of these at least aren't Metalcore with crappy ambient synths. From what I can tell the first and the last bands aren't exactly Post-Hardcore, they're kinda like pop-punk with a bit more of an edge. Silverstein at least try to be part of the real hardcore/skramz crowd, in as much as they covered Orchid once.

What actually is Post-Hardcore anyway? I mean I know it when I hear it... but when it comes to defining it I just kinda gave up with "Stuff that kinda sounds like Botch."

Botch is chaotic hardcore. I always think of post-hardcore as hardcore with more intricacies. More complex drumming and guitar. More diverse vocals. A lot of the time it has jazz influences which is evident in stuff like Glassjaw and ATDI.

I second Silverstein, Fall of Troy, Alexisonfire, and Scary Kids Scaring Kids.

I also dig Drop Dead, Gorgeous and the newer BlesstheFall, hell I get flamed for it but I LOVE 'This Means War' from Attack Attack! They dropped their balls on that album.

Idiots. Post-hardcore is like Sleeping With Sirens, Falling In Reverse, and Of Mice & Men.

EDIT: Hey synystershadows, can we start a symphonic metalcore band? You'll play the violin, and I'll play guitar

I've got an awesome Kingdoms shirt from when I saw them touring to support the album, one of my favourite band shirts.

I'd recommend Glassjaw because they're one of my all time favourite bands, but may be a bit too "whiney". Dear Diary,... by From First To Last is another wicked record but may be too emo-ish. Try Alls Well That Ends Well by Chiodos and try and find some stuff by Dead and Divine.

well "post" means after, so after hardcore, so bands that were influenced by hardcore, but are distinct enough to be considered something else.

I don't know if anyone put Memphis May Fire out there yet but they're pretty good and I think they're post hardcore

They used to have a southern metalcore/hardcore tinge to them on their debut EP and Sleepwalking, which are both pretty decent, IMO. Now they're pretty much standard nu-metalcore/Risecore in the vein of bands like We Came as Romans/Motionless in White/The Word Alive/Asking Alexandria, etc...

Yeah more or less this. It makes sense once you finally get a good solid definition of what hardcore and metalcore music actually are.
