As it stands, I have an amp for modern metal (Peavey 6505+) However, I'm currently getting back into Sabbath and I'm also listening to more modern bands with less distortion (Ghost BC) than most modern bands. What kind of amp could I get that could satisfy my needs? Price range is 1,000 US dollars and I live in NE Arkansas.

You cant get the tone by maybe boosting the mids a bit. I mean if you really want to buy something Laney, Marshall JCM 800 or maybe a Randall. You should be able to get a Sabbath tone pretty easily I believe with the gear you have.

Tony Iommi is kniwn for using laneys. I recon an orange th30 would be a good choice. The cleans are awesome and with the gain down low on the dirt channel its nice and gritty without being intense

Is that a good deal for those amps?

seems like you should be able to get Sabbath out of your current amp no problem. turn down the gain and perhaps goose it with an overdrive to give yourself more variety in sounds. looking at your gear in your sig I might suggest a new and better cab than the b-52 might be a good use of funds.

A used Marshall JCM2000 DSL maybe? Either DSL50 or DSL100. Basically an amp that is voiced after classic JCM800, channel 1 and 2 based on normal and 3 and 4 hotrodded. 4 channel works for modern stuff too.

If you find the high gain channels too bright its easily moddable (if you are into that sort of thing) by snipping one leg on one of the caps at EQ section (or removing the cap alltogether if you want it to look pro) bringing the voicings of 1-2 and 3-4 channels closer together.

Yeah I'm wanting either an Avatar 2x12 or the Orange PPC 2x12. Would either of those be decent for what I'm trying to do?

I have the Avatar 212 and it sounds great, I recommend them. Plus you get to have it tailored to your liking...

A 6505+ is great but it is also not the most versatile amp out there. Don't get me wrong, I personally love the amp but if a guy wants a Marshally amp then you get a Marshally amp. It is that simple.

Sure a 6505+ can approximate Sabbath tones I'm telling you the Marshall tone stack has its own thing going and somet people actually prefer that.

+1 to the Avatar 212. Loved mine. Great company to work with.
