Just thinking about it the other day, i have never played or never even seen one. Does anybody have one or with experience playing one.

How would you compare it to a 6505+

i'll be hanging out here. there's a lot of love for it. supposed to be similar to the 6505+ but with el34s instead.

..Is that an attempt at humor?

That video sounds really good. Based on that, I prefer it to the 6505. Sounds more lifeful(?) and fuller. It's more organic and wetter.

Video sounds good but it seemed like there was some processing, i would rather hear it directly through an sm57 raw.

However i feel that the purpose of the 6505 is lost with EL34's.

But couldn't really say without playing one.

Honestly unless your an audiophile, they sound the same live. maybe a tad more mids with the 6534+ and a tad more lows with the 6505+. But the average person will not notice a difference, because the 6505 series relies on preamp distortion

I didn't really think about it that way. Good point.

It could make a difference still though, the splawn promod is identical to the quickrod except the promod has kt88's and the quickrod had EL34's and sound very different.

I think you should buy one and then do an equal=equal test run and show us the difference

It does make you wonder though because there is always that claim that you cannot hear much difference in power tubes. That may be more brand than type though. I did always wonder about the 6534 though so.....you know.... .

Good point, I have only played 1 6534+ and I did not do a side by side with the 6505+. It did sound the same/very similar to the 5150 if I remember correct.

Guess it's time for a new amp huh

played thru one a few times. for really high gain sounds not much different than 6505 however it is a tad bit easier to get the Marshall crunch sound at lower gain levels.

I have been looking for a
5150 here and there. Not buying one until i find one used for a killer price. Will wait i am still messing with the tremoverb.
