Darkthrone is by far my favorite black metal band, probably my tenth favorite band of all time and I even like the stuff they did that isn't black metal. Do you guys like it? What do you think of their most recent album (I like it)?

Modern Darkthrone > Old Darkthrone

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

don't know if I'd go that far, but I really loved F.O.A.D. and The Underground Resistance. Leave No Cross Unturned is such a good song.

Calling next week:
"Does post-Filosofem Burzum suck?
Burzum is my eleventh favorite band, even tho i don't agree with the politics, the first albums are pure black metal spirit
What do you guys think?"

This should of been posted in the Darkthrone or Black Metal thread to reduce clutter.

I prefer Darkthrone prior to '95 or so, but the newer material is solid for what it is.

Mid-period darkthrone isn't actually too bad. It's easy be cynical about the new stuff I suppose, but it's really just two guys playing whatever they want...can't argue with that!

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

I really didn't mind Underground Resistance. Anything between F.O.A.D. and Total Death is completely alien to me though. I like everything I have heard by them, but I have, as they (you guys) say, "an eclectic and impressive taste in music" so my mind is already open.

At my current state of VGness, If you were to mince, crush, and squeeze my body and soul into a fine paste and put that paste into a sound system it would sound like Circle The Wagons and The Underground Resistance.

I wept jovial tears of jubilation when I first spun Circle The Wagons because ****ing shit that album had to have been made for me.

Which is great and all but I felt the same damn way in the 90's when I first heard Nocturno Culto's primordial roar of UNHOLY BLACK MET-UHL.

Which is to say as far I'm concerned Darkthrone has not changed. Only their surroundings have.

right?

have you jammed The Underground Resistance yet?

It's pretty good, not amazing, but good. Leave No Cross Unturned seriously is great though

My question: "Does post-Soulside Journey Darkthrone suck?"

For reals though, totally their best album.

More like I couldn't give a shit about anything they've done post-Total Death. I seem to remember Hate Them having a few OK tracks, but otherwise... Total Muh.

That's my favorite one, actually. ****ing Quintessence is such a good song. Amazing riff and killer lyrics by Count Grishnackh himself. Made even cooler by the fact that he wrote it in prison.
