They had heard that Adebolajo and Adebowale drove a car into Fusilier Rigby at 30-40mph, before dragging him into the road and attacking him with knives and attempting to decapitate him with a meat cleaver.

The jury heard the men chose their victim because he was "the soldier that was spotted first".

The attack occurred on a busy street, witnessed by shocked onlookers. A number of women - such as Amanda Donnelly-Martin - approached Fusilier Rigby, who was lying in the road, and attempted to comfort him, but he was already dead.

I think a fitting punishment would be to drop these two in some hick town in the southern parts of the US, only after informing the locals about their actions and whereabouts.

Hell, the Top Gear crew got stones coming their way after disrespecting Nascar and Country & Western.

Are you expressing surprise that it only took 90 minutes? Not sure why, both of them standing with blood on their hands shouting into a TV camera that they killed him for Allah is pretty conclusive

Yes just a waste of fecking time and resources when there was no doubt they were guilty

Scum of the earth, f*cking animals. They should be hung, drawn and quartered without a doubt. There shouldn't have even been a trial. These extremists hate the west but choose to live here, scrounge off of the benefits and then think that it is acceptable to do sh*t like this...

Yeah, we should totally prove how superior our secular, thought out system is by suspending our justice system and gutting them!

And to my knowledge the reason the deliberation took 90 minutes was related to whether or not they were able to be classed as insane.

I'm not quite sure how condemning a disgusting, unnecessary act of violence makes me 'no better than them'. Would you care to elaborate?

Edit* Ok, yes that punishment is OTT but I believe strongly that we should enforce capital punishment to deter things like this from happening rather than jailing them which is just a way of preventing them from doing it again, until they are released.

Capital punishment in this situation would not be a good punishment, as they would become heroes and martyrs in the eyes of their radical colleagues.
#14
Yeh they should be killed right quick mate, no doubt
My God, it's full of stars!

Why dont these radicals just go and fight in Syria? Loads of em from Europe and most of them are dead/will be dead.
I didnt know about this case until October this year when I visited London and walked by the barracks, down that street.Only then I realized I had seen picture similiar on the internet.Shocking,really.

Wish there were blocks on radical Islam websites etc EU-wide,just like they try to block porn.Who knows how many radicals in Benilux,France and UK were cheering for these sickos. We`ll have more and more killings like this one and Theo van Gogh`s if this issue isnt discussed and steps taken to stop them in EU headquarters.

You raise a good point. It still makes me sick though.

In all honesty, I think that we should pull our military out of the middle east and stop trying to save the f*cking world. It's clearly not doing much good and shitty things like this are only likely to increase in frequency/severity.

Because you're condemning their act of violence and then suggesting that we commit an even worse act of violence (government sanctioned violence against a civilian) against them.

Edit: ^ lol 'clearly not doing much'

I wouldn't say that making an example of them is such a terrible thing, I'd argue that people commiting aforementioned atrocities do not deserve to be shown any mercy. It might shock the world a little bit. But hey ho, each to their own

I'd argue that the inability of our justice system to be so merciless as to kill someone is one of the best features about it.

I remember this story. It's such a rare occurrence that a soldier from the US is killed in that manner and for a statement. Extra charges should be brought on for creating a spectacle to display in a public gathering, if that's even taken into accordance at least.

I like how they didn't release the verdict to the public. Judges are probably shitting their asses at the backlash they'd get either way, especially from the radical religious community.

You guys really need to count charges adequately over there at least. I know there are those who feel a man should not be sentenced to prison for a lifetime, a long with the death penalty, but there really are evil people that need to be kept from the public forever.

It's not impossible to be sentenced for life here, you simply aren't sentenced formally to life - you're instead given a set time and then depending on circumstances you can be detained for longer. I think.

Murder has a mandatory life sentence. The thing that changes is the amount of time that has to be served before they can be considered for parole. And even if they do get out on parole, they'll be on license for the rest of their lives, meaning any infringement of their conditions will send them back inside.

That's why you hear people talking about life sentences and serving 15 years. I think what's not allowed is a life sentence with no chance of parole.
