I'm thinking about getting a set for my LTD H-301 (D Std/Drop C). I want to hear about personal experiences with the different versions (1,2,3), just general opinions on the differences and such.

Before it comes up, I don't think I want EMG Xs. I think they lose too much of the active element for my taste.

I love my ahb 1s. They sound thick, tight, and warmer than EMGs. I will post some clips of chugging, black metal, and death metal tomorrow.

I actually already sold it, sorry. (But thanks for reminding me to take it off my signature.)

As for clips of the Blackouts, what kind of riffs would you like to hear?

Modern Death if you can, TBDM style or NMF/TFM era Bloodbath (not the early Entombed style stuff).

Here's a quick clip of some of my riffs combined into one medley. Please excuse the sloppy playing and even poorer recording -- my only recording equipment at the moment is my Kindle Fire with a free voice-recording app. You can hear the string attack which might be good for purposes of listening specifically to the pickups. Tuning is C# Standard.

Is that through your 6505+? HM-2 or no?

Sounds pretty awesome, super thick.

Nope, no HM-2 on that clip. That's a whole 'nother beast. When I run that I typically don't run the TS-9 with it; it sounds a lot like At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul album.

I'm running a TS-9 as a boost, an MXR 10-band with the 125hz slider boosted a bit (low mids) and highest highs cut.

Part of it also is my Eminence Governor/Swamp Thang mix. That combo is super thick and brutal. It sounds 10x better in person, obviously. The best part is that two of them are brand-new speakers, so it'll sound better and better as they break-in.

Have you tried the Blackout 2s or 3s?

^^Nah, I haven't. The only other pup I have a lot of experience with is the Dimarzio D-Sonic, which sounds much different. That and Emg 81s, I guess.
