Hi!

So I'm making a 2x12 cabinet with 2 1965 Fender speakers I got from a friend. The thing is, these speakers require soldering instead of the clips which I am fine with, I have had my share of rewiring guitars and heard the soldering is more reliable then the clips. But all I am wondering is if I just wanted to make it a 8 / 16 ohm cabinet by using this:

What materials would I need in order to make it complete. As in what input would I need and what wire would I need? Does anyone have a schematic that they can show me that tells me what I need to do wiring wise?

Thanks for all your help!

By the way, here are some pictures of the speakers:

What impedance are the speakers and do you want to have different impedance inputs or a daisy chain facility?

To be honest, I dont really know the impedance. In this situation you would probably know more then me since they are speakers from the 60's. and I would probably want to have different impedance inputs.

Measure the dc resistance with your multimeter, the impedance will be slightly more than that. So if it is 5 ohm, the speaker will be 8 ohm.

They'll be 8 ohm. Do you want the cab to be 4 ohm or 16? Those are your choices.

Well Id be putting a Hugh and Kettner 18 Tubemeiser head onto it. And that has 8 and 16 ohm inputs. So im going to guess i'd like it to be 16.

tip is +ve by convention.

Get two mono 1/4 inch jacks, get decent ones like Switchcraft or Neutrix

Looking at one jack first:
tip > + of one speaker
- of that speaker > + of the second
- of second speaker > ring of jack

Parallel up the two jacks. ie tip to tip, ring to ring.

This will give you a 16 ohm cab with a daisy chain output.

^You'll want to wire it like the top picture, in series.

Okay cool! Thanks for the diagram and explanations! One more question, What type of wire do I use?

Just get speaker wire. or you can use regular stranded wire. I suggest you get copper wire and not aluminum
