Hello. I'm new on the forum. This would my first guitar that I've bought so I need HELP! I'm used to playing on my dads strat similar to this one. If it helps, I mainly play alt rock, like Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, etc. Thanks for the help!

P.S. Does anyone know where I can get the Les Paul in desert burst, thanks!

If you've already got a Strat to play on that's your fathers, why not get an LP to go with it?

^^^You're assuming he can continue to use his father's guitar. That may not be the case.
OP if you're used to a Strat and like it, get one of your own.

Yeah, but perhaps TS could ask his father if it would be okay to let him borrow it? He could let his father borrow his LP if he wanted to so that it's fair.

I'm just playing on the potential of a win-win situation.

I need a guitar of my own before I go to college. My dad won't let me borrow his and I don't blame him.

Okay in that case, just get the Strat.

Based on your music tastes, you can't go wrong with either. You basically compiled a list of which half uses LP-style guitars and half uses Strat-style guitars. If anything, I'd recommend an HSS Strat. The humbucker will give you a little more versatility in what you can play.

That said, if you're taking it to college with you, I'd A) get it insured, and B) get a hard case. Everyone I know who has dormed in college, including myself, has either lost, broken, or had something valuable stolen while there.
