Hello everyone,

I recently took some pictures of my girlfriend's brother's guitar. I didn't get a chance to plug it in, but it didn't sound good anyway.

Some things about it:

- only two knobs
- pickup switch in a different area
- doesn't play very well
- word "Standard" is in a weird font
- no pickguard (I know these can be removed, but there was no trace of it)

I know nothing about real Gibson guitars, but I think I am 99% sure that this is a fake.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

Others might know better, but it seems legit. Looks like a 24 fret Les Paul DC. They no longer make the DC.

What about the guitar doesn't play very well?

Could just need cleaned and a decent set up.
Gibson LP traditional and DC standard, PRS S2 Custom 24, Schecter Banshee 7
EVH 5153, Mesa DR Tremoverb combo 2-2x12's

Thanks man. I just didn't know that existed. But now that makes sense. The guitar just wouldn't stay in tune and buzzed a lot, so it definitely needed a setup.

^+1 looks like a LP double cut. My buddy has one in read. They are really nice guitars get it set-up and you will have a nice guitar.

What amp did you play it through?

Thanks. Like I said, I didn't get a chance to plug it in. But Im actually impressed that the guy has a real Gibson considering he doesn't play anymore. My girlfriend said her brother hasn't played the thing in years. Seems like a waste of a good guitar.

If its not in use check if you can buy it for cheap and then take it to luthier for new strings and proper setup. I dont know a thing about fake or legit Gibsons but that does look damn sweet guitar.
