how far will we go?
stowaways without a boat
our shoes cut through concrete waves
sails held taught by shoelace
and the others won't even see us
we are just bodies roaming streets
bone under flesh under skin
moving and lucid

and we'll forget the lives we swore to lead
full of the memories that left us hungry
so we'll wander together as well fed beggars
ghosts in search of the after, the after

now in a place with clouds in shapes
we've never seen before
and the grass is longer than it should be let to grow
and the tap water burns as it goes down your throat
we dance with growing ease as it takes hold
so we'll stumble and slur eternity away

and we'll forget the lives we swore to lead
full of the memories that left us hungry
so we'll wander together as well fed beggars
ghosts in search of the after, the after
life
We're only strays.
