Assuming you already have a guitar, just buy thicker strings! That's really all there is to it, but also make sure your guitar is set up for that tuning to avoid later problems. As for the gauge, I wouldn't know specifics... I buy 62-11 for tuning in drop C since i like my strings firm and drop B.

Tuning on stage between songs is fairly difficult...

EDIT: I also use 10's which is heavy enough for drop D, so it should be for DADGAD.

DADGAD is only used for 1 or 2 genres of music, and read the op.

I've only heard DADGAD in folk and rock, and I haven't been able to find a Danelectro for under $350
